     Hey!

Here it is.  Please forgive some of the content as it may be    rather boring.   I was spending more time on the formatting   than the content.  I figure we will change this twice a year but I   can keep you updated with critical news on the home page and through the rest of the site.  I feel much better now that I am wrapping up the creation of this website.  It was a bit of work but now it should be easy to maintain.
                                                                   Enjoy !

A White Christmas
The other day we were in Phoenix shopping and over lunch we heard Bing Crosby’s song “A White Christmas.”  Since Wikipedia gives Phoenix 0% chance of ever having a white Christmas, we lamented the fact but rejoiced knowing that we may well have one while visiting Billings for the holiday.  I mused at how a song can still move me emotionally as it touches something special for me; having a white Christmas.

After further reflection, I remembered that song means much more to a whole generation that too often is easily forgotten.  My mother-in-law was a nurse during WWII stationed in San Diego.

Work/Career
This year is proving a very successful one for Laurel’s (many) careers.  As most of you know, Laurel works for a hospital in Phoenix as a grant writer. This year a funny thing happened that blessed us greatly through her work there.

Our home business, Mountain View Resourcing, is still growing and in an effort to keep up with the growth we are contracting some of the work out.

Christian’s pursuit to become a Police Officer has had its ups and downs.  The exciting thing is that after 100 applicants Christian is at the top of the list to get hired on!

Kids Corner
We are really beginning to enjoy the boys at their stages.   Having the two of them growing closer together is fun to watch as well as seeing their different personality’s develop.  They spend most of their time playing with each other and the rest either getting on each other’s nerves or reading by themselves. ...for more click here

Faith

(everyone believes in God, …even if you don’t admit it now)

There is a saying, “There are no atheists in foxholes.”  I have never been in a foxhole, but I can say I have been in a life and death situation with a group of people.  During that intense time, when our lives hung in the balance and we faced death or injury, I witnessed everyone becoming devoted believers in God.

Hobbies/Recreation
Pets have been an increasingly growing hobby.  Of course, we balance it out with work and family so it isn’t out of control, but it is certainly starting to take off for us.  Since there are so many unwanted pets in this commitment challenged nation, we believe in adoption.

Goals/Ambitions
We like to stay active in life and push ourselves to accomplish new things.  This year, out of our list of goals, we have selected the following as ones we have actually invested in and seen positive results.  Our ambitions help drive us but are not the focus of our lives.  That way we are not bent out of shape if we do not start or finish them.  The only question we ask ourselves at the end of each week, month, or year is did we produce fruit or waste the time given to us?  Even if we only accomplished a few items on our list during the week, with this “accountability,” we find that we achieve more than with out it. Church/Ministry

For the last three years, we have spent a remarkable time with the Lord contemplating His Church. For a lot of us, our definition (and therefore our perspective) on church is not as complete as it should be. Church, for many of us, is defined by our experiences more than what we gather from scripture. It is what we grew up with or the way we do church now that gives the definition meaning.

This definition, or lack thereof, is a foundation to the workings of our faith.  I suggest that we will have a better foundation from which to practice our faith if we refine our definition of the Lord’s body.  When discerning the true definition of the church, it may not mean checking to make sure God's Truth from scripture is present.  Rather, it may mean taking out our own pre-established views, laws, protocol and dogmas. To have a pure understanding of our Lord’s Bride, we must rely solely on His Word.

Good books
we have read

The Starfish and the Spider

The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations

What’s the hidden power behind the success of Wikipedia, craigslist, and Skype?

The Starfish and the Spider argues that organizations fall into two categories: traditional “spiders,” which have a rigid hierarchy and top-down leadership, and revolutionary “starfish,” which rely on the power of peer relationships.

Lone Survivor

The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10

This is more documentary than action packed.

This is the story of fire team leader Marcus Luttrell, the sole survivor of Operation Redwing, and the desperate battle in the mountains that led, ultimately, to the largest loss of life in Navy SEAL history.

Revolution

Finding vibrant faith beyond the walls of the santuary.

Research by renowned pollster George Barna points to millions of committed Christ-followers, dissatisfied with the church experience, and have stopped attending on Sunday mornings. Why are they leaving? Where are they going?

Droves of committed believers are foregoing Sunday mornings to live a 24/7 faith unfettered by the clutter and bureaucracy within the church walls. Using years' worth of research data, Barna predicts how this revolution will impact the organized church.

Pagan Christianity

Exploring the roots of our church practices

Why do we "dress up" for church? Why does the pastor preach a sermon each week? Why do we have pews, steeples, choirs, and seminaries? Most of what Christians do in present-day churches is not rooted in the New Testament, but in pagan culture and rituals developed long after the death of the apostles.

Having spent my whole life in the inner workings of the church and eventually becoming a licensed pastor, I have seen a great deal in "Church" that eventually led me to a desert experience. There, I had a chance to reexamine the Lord's desire for his Bride. Before anyone makes a quick rush to judgement on where they feel I stand, please take a moment to pause and read carefully my views on faith, the church, and my ministry in this newsletter.
